We were able to provide a beautiful dinner honoring the surviving mothers of the kids who grew up in the orphanage. For most, this was the first time they had ever been to a fancy dinner at a restaurant. Each son/daughter stood up and shared encouraging thoughts about the sacrifices their mother went through to give them better opportunities. It was an emotional night for all of us.
The team was invited to Nadine Joseph's wedding which took place while we were there. Nadine is part of SSP's educational loan program and is attending college for elementary education. Board members Jeff Brown and Laura Lindgren had the privilege of being part of the wedding which was a special opportunity they will always cherish. It was a beautiful event.
The team entertained 45 children so that their parents could attend the 2 day bible conference our team presented to a small country church. They all had so much fun playing bingo, minute to win it games and coloring their crowns!

LaPorte Bible teacher, Mandi Cornett, taught at the 2 day bible conference at a small country church. This was Mandi's second year in a row leading the conference and the Haitian believers were grateful for her insights and teaching techniques.
We served Pastor Rosemond's country church. Pastor Rosemond was a spiritual mentor for the kids growing up in the orphanage and they love and respect him so much. Pastor Rosemond is so proud of Larousse who is finishing his theology degree in seminary to follow in Pastor Rosemond's footsteps.
Our inaugural meeting of the Haitian board of directors.
Team members Tim Lindgren and Maggie Cornett led a worship song during the Bible conference.
Jacki Fryer joined the team this year and the Haitian girls and guys were so excited to see her after 5 years. Sony was a boy she sponsored while in the orphanage and now he is living on his own. She was a sight for sore eyes for so many of the kids! They love to be reunited with old friends.
Each evening we enjoy a meal with our Haitian friends. It's a full house but we sure have lots of laughter!
The team was invited to a river baptism service at the country church they served.
Our team surprised the bride to be, Nadine, with a bridal shower and invited her friends and family. We brought gifts, games, prizes and a special dessert. she was so overwhelmed tears streamed down her face. We were all so touched.

Maggie was our youngest team member and she was in charge of making all the little ones smile during the 2 day bible conference! She did a great job!
When this young lady was in the orphanage she was afraid of her shadow, but on this trip she stepped out in front of the church and offered up a beautiful song praising God. It's amazing to watch the kids blossom when they have encouragement and opportunity!
At the 2 day bible conference the team members worked hard to keep the children entertained!
During the Bible conference we served lunch to 160 people under the direction of our team members Lori and John Nowak who prepared the food and all the kind and generous donations from supporters.
Maggie is happy to help pass out lunch to the congregation.
